Since childhood, it has been drawing and colour that has brought the best out of life for this artist and it has been a constant source of calm, escape and joy.....

Anita has formal art education till grade 12 and although she really wanted to study art it wasn't possible and studied something else. After a lot of twists and turns life gave her another chance at living her dream. She loves the freedom to create a mood and tell a story, and it brings her immense pleasure when others can share in this experience through her paintings and sketches.

A two month stay in Paris at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2011, gave her the "courage" to venture. This is why she follows her heart and her dreams and although not always the easy road to take, she takes the one less travelled because she simply has to.

Painting in oils and sketching in charcoal and pastels really encouraged her self-expression, and she feel this aspect of her art truly came into bloom when she (long since childhood) began using these media as a student of first Marié Stander and then Jeanne Hendriks.

Her current theme depicting water and the "shadows / reflections there-in" includes her longing for freedom, beauty and honesty which comes from nature. This is something she experience first hand when going to a small piece of land in te Overberg district - a small piece of heaven. Another twist is her eagerness to show the relation between nature and man.... to be seen in daily life and her experience of it.

In May and June 2016 she will be visiting the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris again and here she will try and build on the concept she is taking there.... to be shared as small snippets on her blog she will keep while there.
