Highly skilled and experienced textile artist. Accomplished Arts and Crafts educator and a keenly motivated self-starter. Independent, strong, practical and an excellent communicator.
Faiqah been a practising textile artist and educator for twenty-five years.
She comes from a strong artistic family; her late father was a master craftsman while all his four sisters were skilled textile artisans.
"I was privileged to study the Art and Craft of Batik, Surface textile art/design as well as Dye Technology in Malaysia and Indonesia."
Faiqah subsequently initiated capacity building art projects in various South African provinces, developed an excellent track record with the National Arts Council of South Africa grant beneficiary department, and completed many challenging projects, held solo exhibitions and attended an overseas residency.
Presently she is a part time visual art facilitator at a Psychiatric Health Institute in Cape Town,
Whereby she shares her visual art skills through social engagement towards helping the healing process among mentally disable individuals.
During the facilitation process she engages them in the skills of general drawing, collage embroidery, knitting, patching and applique.
