“When a woman tells her story, the world heals.
When a woman creates a new story for herself, the world wakes up.”

Lynette Steele qualified as a medical doctor in 1989 at the University of Pretoria, where she was introduced to classical anatomy and inspired by the perfect design of the human body.  In her role as a doctor she learned to view the body through the lens of disease and illness.

However, her search for the deeper meaning of life led her to the original definition of the word health which is wholeness. Her healing approach shifted from treating the disease to creating health or wholeness on all levels - mind, body, and soul. For her, living a meaningful life requires the ability to embrace ourselves completely, and live from a space of embodied wisdom in every moment. Re-connecting with and returning to this wisdom is the inherent nature of the healing journey while celebrating the wonders and beauty of the design of the body.
Great artists inspired her with their ability to portray the human body in its many expressions, and it was when she reached the age of fifty, that she fulfilled a lifelong desire to use art as a form of her own interpretation and understanding of life. Her first sculpture was created under the guidance of Marieke Prinsloo Rowe, and since then her creative discoveries have led her to the medicine she now offers the world, which is called The Art & Science of Wholeness.

She integrates her knowledge of the body, medicine, art, mythology, and creativity to create her own body of work, which includes sculpture, ceramic art, writing and photography to demonstrate the beauty inherent in the healing process, and the evolution from brokenness to wholeness.
