1944 - 2020

Shelagh was born, and spent her younger years
in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), hence her love of open African landscapes.

In 1961 she received a distinction in Art at Arundel, Salisbury, and qualified as a dress designer at the Natal Art School in 1964. From 1965-1979 she worked as
a fashion designer in Harare, London, Paris, Durban
and Johannesburg.

Shelagh started painting landscapes professionally
in 1981 and relocated to the Cape in 1988.

She is listed in the Everard Reed Gallery manual of top SA artists and her work is displayed in many of the main galleries across the country where she has held solo and group exhibitions. Numerous prominent corporations have acquired her work including FNB, SA Breweries, Coca-Cola and Pimlico Holdings. She regularly visited the Karoo and Cape country areas to gain fresh inspiration.

Shelagh worked in acrylic and mixed media to achieve the realism of African light and atmosphere in the tranquillity
of rural African scenes.
