Tanya is a self-taught artist, working primarily in ceramics. She loves the fullness of the African shape and the variety of patterning and colour in traditional cloth. Her Teapots are designed to be not just conversation pieces but to stimulate thought-provoking conversations in their own right. Tanya is passionately “green” and themes of conservation, peace, love, justice and social activism run deep.

Wangari Maathai, the Kenyan Tree-planting Nobel Prize winner, is one of her icons. Wangari once said “I don’t really know why I care so much. I just have something inside me that tells me that there is a problem and I have to do something about it. I think that is what I would call the God in me.” Tanya feels the same way and this is the spirit that compels her to paint - and to paint items which are not only beautiful but socially relevant.
