Yasmin Ezzideen is an artist, based in the fields of sculpture, painting, drawing music and traditional hand-poke
Tattooing. In 2013 – she graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art, with a major in Sculpture. Her
work was greatly influenced by her fascination towards environmental Awareness. This theme has
continued to be a focal point in her work through collecting and resourcing natural matter as an
exploration into the undeniable interconnectedness between human and nature.
Yasmin has a background in sculpture and traditional taxidermy, taught by the late George Esau, former
Head Taxidermist of the Iziko Natural History Museum – who left a lasting imprint on her with his
timeless understanding of the animal world. She experiences her process of creation as ritual healing
within her own connection and sense of “oneness” to the earth.
She is currently exploring themes of the goddess, the rise of the Divine feminine while dismantling patriarchal archetypes in our modern world and the rewilding of women in relation to their connection to the natural and spiritual world with her charcoal and gold leaf drawings.
