Zahile Ngobo was born in South Africa and is a self taught artist. In 1994  he worked as a craft person in an upliftment project called the Power Station in Grahamstown; there he was given the materials to start painting in oils. After getting married, he moved to the Qolweni Township on the Garden Route, where he continues to paint.
